Summer on the Palouse
These pictures were taken at our home near Moscow, Idaho, over the course of 2 hours this morning, June 10. (thanks, Annie!)
Yes, that's what I said....June.
That's SNOW, folks! Don't frosted peonies look lovely?
To tell the truth, I'm a bit frosted myself. But the nice thing about weather on the Palouse-- if you don't like it, just wait a few minutes and it will change.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go sweep the global warming off my front steps.
A little confused? Meeeeeeeee, too.
But just imagine how those peonies are feeling!

I love peonies. Do you say it peeahnees, like Martha? Or peohnees like me? Now really, did that make sense?
Hmmm, good question - made perfect sense to me!
We say PEE-ah-nees
though I think I sometimes might say
PEE-oh-nees
but never pee-OH-nees
And I thought we had it bad here in Northern Illinois. Actually, this was the coldest and longest winter I can remember. It lasted a very long time, well into what should have been spring.
Your poor peonies. Oh gosh, I can't imagine waking up to snow this morning. UGH.

Suzanne, I'm happy to report the peonies and other plants (including my tomatoes waiting to be set into the garden, if it ever quits raining)
are all fine after our odd taste of summer yesterday. It actually didn't get below 34 degrees, so nothing froze, thank goodness!
We are warm today - 42 degrees.
Can someone please send summer?
Oh wow - I would be really surprised if that happened here in Georgia, gorgeous flowers, wish I had a bed of peonies - i love them better than roses!! Thanks for sharing!!
